NEWS RELEASE

According to Sheriff Bob Alford, three drill bits valued at approximately $40,000 were recovered after a lengthy investigation, and a 20-year-old imprisoned Joshua man has been linked to the thefts.
Over a month ago, Detective Leona Yocham was contacted by XTO Energy Services and told of a drill bit that had been stolen out of Johnson County and was recovered in Canadian, Texas.
Through an extensive investigative process, including backtracking information on the recovered drill bit in Canadian, it was determined that there were two additional drill bits sold by a man identified as Clovis McCray.
Sheriff Alford stated that two of the drill bits were sold locally, but had found their way to Kansas. Detective Yocham was able to link McCary to all three Thefts, and through intensive investigative efforts, recovered all three of the drill bits.
McCary is currently incarcerated in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, on unrelated convictions.
